Any and all "environmental threats" proposed by humans were far exceeded by all natural cataclysms that have happened in history, and life continued and evolved just fine. So, when you hear about any "threat" proposed by anyone in the social power structure, is it a threat that they have 'created' , or something that will make no difference in the end that they can do nothing about but pretend they can .... it is all about implementation of manipulative political agenda, nothing more, with financial gain.  You know this to be true, so why act like it's something different. Cui bono?  

Documentary/Research:  The Cloud Mystery [09/05/10] 6 Video clips [60:00]  "In 2005, scientists found evidence that the sun and the galaxy is determining the climate on Earth. For some reason, no scientific journal wanted to publish this. In this film, the UN climate consensus is seriously challenged - watch it, and judge for yourself. The duration of the documentary is 52 min. and is in 6 parts - called Cloud Mystery [...]"  It's about the relationship between clouds, the sun and the galaxy and Earths climate. Note: Novel Dutch research, validated in 2005 ... but generally suppressed, presenting the linkage between solar magnetic field and the degree of cloud cover on Earth, which influences temperatures. Note in part 2 how the IPCC slammed their research as a threat to the human-caused global warming agenda.What they could see was that when the magnetic activity on the sun was larger, then the temperature on the Earth was higher. The theory arose that the level of cosmic rays reaching Earth was also related to cloud formation on Earth. It proved to be correct. 1975 ‘Endangered Atmosphere’ Conference: Where the Global Warming Hoax Was Born by Marjorie Mazel Hecht   PDF "“Global Warming” is, and always was, a policy for genocidal reduction of the world’s population. The preposterous claim that human-produced carbon dioxide will broil the Earth, melt  the ice caps, and destroy human life, came out of a 1975 conference in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, organized  by the influential anthropologist Margaret Mead, president of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), in 1974.  Mead—whose 1928 book on the sex life of South Pacific Islanders was later found to be a fraud—recruited like-minded anti-population hoaxsters to the cause: Sow enough fear of man-caused climate change to force global cutbacks in industrial activity and halt Third World development. Mead’s leading recruits at the 1975 conference were climate-scare artist Stephen Schneider, population-freak biologist George Woodwell, and the current AAAS president John Holdren—all three of them disciples of Malthusian fanatic Paul Ehrlich, author of The Population Bomb. Guided by luminaries like these, conference discussion focused on the absurd choice of either feeding people or “saving the environment.” Mead began organizing for her conference, “The Atmosphere: Endangered and Endangering,” shortly after she had attended the United Nations Population Conference in Bucharest, Romania, in August 1974. She had already bullied American scientists with her Malthusian view that people were imperiling the environment. [...]"

CO2 and Global Temperature Issues: Global Temperature and Atmospheric CO2 over Geologic Time    "For most of the past 600 million years global temperatures were usually 7 C (12.5 F) warmer than the present, and that CO2 concentration has rarely fallen below 1000 parts per million by volume. It is currently at less than 400 parts per million by volume. There has been very little correlation between past CO2 concentrations and past global temperatures. Though correlation does not necessarily imply causation, lack of correlation necessarily implies lack of causation. On this evidence, CO2 is at best a bit-part player in the climate. During the Cambrian era, 550 million years ago, CO2 concentration peaked at around 7000 ppmv, about 18 times today’s concentration. Yet the planet did not fry. It was during that era that the calcite corals first evolved: they did not suffer from the “ocean acidification” that is supposed to happen when atmospheric CO2 concentration is high. ..." No Rise of Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide Fraction in Past 160 Years, New Research Finds  Note:  Most of the carbon dioxide emitted by human activity does not remain in the atmosphere, but is instead absorbed by the oceans and terrestrial ecosystems.

Ocean Acidification and Warming Issues:  Undersea Volcanoes still being discovered: Total heat and CO2 contributed to oceans by nature unknowable. Scientists do NOT know the volume of CO2 and heat being added to the world's oceans by these volcanoes, which makes any theoretical guess about human contribution, if significant at all, totally unsupportable. There are estimated to be some 30,000 volcanoes under the ocean (Discovery Channel, Planet Green, 5/13/10), and these pour sulfur and other gases into the water, creating sulfuric acid , to the point where the vicinity of the volcano is like battery acid.  Fire Under Arctic Ice: Volcanoes Have Been Blowing Their Tops In The Deep Ocean   "A research team led by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) has uncovered evidence of explosive volcanic eruptions deep beneath the ice-covered surface of the Arctic Ocean. Such violent eruptions of splintered, fragmented rock--known as pyroclastic deposits -- were not thought possible at great ocean depths because of the intense weight and pressure of water and because of the composition of seafloor magma and rock. ..."  Note:  They 'assumed' such deep water volcanoes were impossible, so they 'assumed' the unexplained heat showing up in phenomenon such as "El Nino" had to be caused by humans.  Study finds Arctic seabed afire with lava-spewing volcanoes  "The Arctic seabed is as explosive geologically as it is politically judging by the "fountains" of gas and molten lava that have been blasting out of underwater volcanoes near the North Pole. “Explosive volatile discharge has clearly been a widespread, and ongoing, process,” according to an international team that sent unmanned probes to the strange fiery world beneath the Arctic ice. ..."   Much of the ocean floor remains unexplored. It may be mapped with sonar, but the exact nature of the floor is unknown. Robert Ballard discovered the deep ocean thermal vents in 1977. Their total number and extent is still unknown. The total number of undersea active volcanoes is also unknown. Guesses as to how much heat is being added to the ocean by these sources are just that; guesses. Therefore, any "calculations of human contributions to planetary warming" are total bullshit, because all other sources of heat are not yet accounted for. Volcanic Seamounts Siphon Ocean Water Through The Seafloor  "Scientists have known for decades that enormous quantities of ocean water circulate through the seafloor, flowing through the porous volcanic rock of the upper oceanic crust. In the process, the water extracts large amounts of heat from the crust, which is warmed by the constant flow of heat out of the Earth's interior. ..."   

Supervolcanoes VIDEO [46:00]  " The Yellowstone Caldera Super volcano explodes every 600,000 years. The last time was 600,000 years ago. It could accelerate and go off at any time, and when it does, it will throw so much ash and gases into the atmosphere that it will lower the global temperature 5 degrees C, cutting off much sunlight and destroying most, if not all of the human civilization. This is NOT a matter of "if' but when. The last time a supervolcano went off was 74,000 years ago, in Toba, Sumatra, and according to the history and analysis of human mitochondrial DNA, it nearing wiped out the whole civilization, reducing the population to a few thousand people on the whole planet ..... there is no possibility of an human action to change this event. Secondly, not all locations of supervolcanoes on Earth are known." Note:  Eighty percent of all volcanoes erupt under the ocean, injecting billions of tons of CO2 into the ocean water. There is no way to compute the amount that human CO2 impacts the biosphere, because not much is known about the total production of CO2 on the planet. Therefore, any carbon trading concept that is arrived at by ambitious financial planners is a scam that has no basis in reality.

Planetary Warming: Other planets are getting warmer and colder in sync with the Earth "At least since 1989, Triton has been undergoing a period of global warming. Percentage-wise, it’s a very large increase,” said Elliot, professor of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences and director of the Wallace Astrophysical Observatory. The 5 percent increase on the absolute temperature scale from about minus-392 degrees Fahrenheit to about minus-389 degrees Fahrenheit would be like the Earth experiencing a jump of about 22 degrees Fahrenheit.” So there is Global Warming on at least 4 other bodies in our Solar System that co-insides with the recent warming on Earth. ..."    Note:  Keep in mind that warming can change the thermal halocline currents and lead, on Earth to a situation of global cooling and a mini ice age. NASA Study Shows Sun Responsible for Planet Warming  "A study from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland looking at climate data over the past century has concluded that solar variation has made a significant impact on the Earth’s climate. The report concludes that evidence for climate changes based on solar radiation can be traced back as far as the Industrial Revolution ..."

Hard Science: How Global Warming Can Chill the Planet   "The Earth was emerging from an ice age 8,200 years ago. Seas were warming and life was heating up. Then quite abruptly and for a relatively short period of time -- about 100 years -- the entire globe chilled down again, by almost 10.8 degrees Fahrenheit (6 Centigrade). One widely held theory for the chill was the sudden release of a substantial amount of fresh water into the northern Atlantic. A lake twice the size of the Caspian Sea broke through an ice sheet that contained it over current day Minnesota and Canada, the evidence shows. It poured its fresh water into the salty Atlantic and changed the density of the ocean water. The oceans work on a sort of conveyor belt method to circulate cold and warm waters, thereby helping control cold, moderate, and warm areas of the globe. NASA Shows Quiet Sun Means Cooling of Earth's Upper Atmosphere   "New measurements from a NASA satellite show a dramatic cooling in the upper atmosphere that correlates with the declining phase of the current solar cycle. For the first time, researchers can show a timely link between the Sun and the climate of Earth's thermosphere, the region above 100 km, an essential step in making accurate predictions of climate change in the high atmosphere. ..."

NOAA Info:  The Arctic Oscillation Index goes strongly negative   "In the last month, the Arctic Oscillation Index (AO) has gone strongly negative. You can see that it headed to its negative peak right about the time the Copenhagen Climate Conference started, so it is no wonder that they ironically experienced cold and snow there. It is also a setup for the record snow and cold Canada and the USA has seen recently. ...With this change happening, the setup for an increased Arctic Sea Ice Maximum is enhanced this year, likely to happen sometime around March 1st, 2010. The Arctic Oscillation refers to opposing atmospheric pressure patterns in northern middle and high latitudes. The oscillation exhibits a “negative phase” with relatively high pressure over the polar region and low pressure at midlatitudes (about 45 degrees North), and a “positive phase” in which the pattern is reversed. In the positive phase, higher pressure at midlatitudes drives ocean storms farther north, and changes in the circulation pattern bring wetter weather to Alaska, Scotland and Scandinavia, as well as drier conditions to the western United States and the Mediterranean. In the positive phase, frigid winter air does not extend as far into the middle of North America as it would during the negative phase of the oscillation. This keeps much of the United States east of the Rocky Mountains warmer than normal, but leaves Greenland and Newfoundland colder than usual. Weather patterns in the negative phase are in general “opposite” to those of the positive phase, as illustrated below. Over most of the past century, the Arctic Oscillation alternated between its positive and negative phases. Starting in the 1970s, however, the oscillation has tended to stay in the positive phase, causing lower than normal arctic air pressure and higher than normal temperatures in much of the United States and northern Eurasia. As we see in this graph below, we’ve seen more red (positive) than blue (negative) phases of the AO in the last 30–40 years. Stunning Pictures of Al Gore's New $9 Million Mansion Media Totally Ignored  [05/04/10] "Al Gore purchased a $9 million mansion in the luxurious hills of Montecito, California, recently, and with the exception of the Los Angeles Times and Fox News, America's media couldn't care less. You think it might be because the Gore-loving press wouldn't want people to consider the possibility that all of his global warming hysteria was really about lining his wallet and not saving the planet? Formulate a response to that question as you look at what all that money the former Vice President is making off of spreading this myth can buy .....   Certainly not bad for a guy who supposedly  was worth between one and two million dollars in 2000.  A former Vice President who last year told a House committee he was putting all of his earnings into a non-profit company to "spread awareness of why we have to take on" global warming a year later buys a $9 million mansion with six fireplaces, five bedrooms, and nine bathrooms for him and his wife. Don't you think SOMEBODY should have reported it other than Fox News, the LA Times, and conservative bloggers? Where'd the money come from? Was this purchased by his non-profit corporation, and if so, how does he get away with that? And how about some questions about how green the house is? Are there solar panels and windmills to power this facility? If not, what are their plans?  Forgetting all of that, if the Clintons, Bushes, or Cheneys bought such a place, do you think the media would cover it, at least as a human interest story?  For over three years, Gore's adoring press have followed virtually every move he's made since becoming the voice of global warming. He buys a STUNNING villa as the unemployment rate stands at almost 10 percent and Americans are struggling to regain their footing after 2008's financial crisis, and the media are suddenly disinterested in him? The Pentagon is the planet's worst polluter [and it is EXEMPT from remediation] [03/01/10] "In evaluating the U.N. Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen -- with more than 15,000 participants from 192 countries, including more than 100 heads of state, as well as 100,000 demonstrators in the streets -- it is important to ask: How is it possible that the worst polluter of carbon dioxide and other toxic emissions on the planet is not a focus of any conference discussion or proposed restrictions? By every measure, the Pentagon is the largest institutional user of petroleum products and energy in general. Yet the Pentagon has a blanket exemption in all international climate agreements. The Pentagon wars in Iraq and Afghanistan; its secret operations in Pakistan; its equipment on more than 1,000 U.S. bases around the world; its 6,000 facilities in the U.S.; all NATO operations; its aircraft carriers, jet aircraft, weapons testing, training and sales will not be counted against U.S. greenhouse gas limits or included in any count. The Feb. 17, 2007, Energy Bulletin detailed the oil consumption just for the Pentagon's aircraft, ships, ground vehicles and facilities that made it the single-largest oil consumer in the world. At the time, the U.S. Navy had 285 combat and support ships and around 4,000 operational aircraft. The U.S. Army had 28,000 armored vehicles, 140,000 High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles, more than 4,000 combat helicopters, several hundred fixed-wing aircraft and 187,493 fleet vehicles. Except for 80 nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers, which spread radioactive pollution, all their other vehicles run on oil. Even according to rankings in the 2006 CIA World Factbook, only 35 countries (out of 210 in the world) consume more oil per day than the Pentagon. The U.S. military officially uses 320,000 barrels of oil a day. However, this total does not include fuel consumed by contractors or fuel consumed in leased and privatized facilities. Nor does it include the enormous energy and resources used to produce and maintain their death-dealing equipment or the bombs, grenades or missiles they fire. Steve Kretzmann, director of Oil Change International, reports: "The Iraq war was responsible for at least 141 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MMTCO2e) from March 2003 through December 2007. ... The war emits more than 60 percent of all countries. ... This information is not readily available ... because military emissions abroad are exempt from national reporting requirements under U.S. law and the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change." (naomiklein.org, Dec. 10) Most scientists blame carbon dioxide emissions for greenhouse gases and climate change. Bryan Farrell in his new book, The Green Zone: The Environmental Costs of Militarism, says that "the greatest single assault on the environment, on all of us around the globe, comes from one agency ... the Armed Forces of the United States."  Just how did the Pentagon come to be exempt from climate agreements? At the time of the Kyoto Accords negotiations, the U.S. demanded as a provision of signing that all of its military operations worldwide and all operations it participates in with the U.N. and/or NATO be completely exempted from measurement or reductions. After securing this gigantic concession, the Bush administration then refused to sign the accords. In a May 18, 1998, article entitled "National security and military policy issues involved in the Kyoto treaty," Dr. Jeffrey Salmon described the Pentagon's position. He quotes then-Secretary of Defense William Cohen's 1997 annual report to Congress: "DoD strongly recommends that the United States insist on a national security provision in the climate change Protocol now being negotiated." (marshall.org) According to Salmon, this national security provision was put forth in a draft calling for "complete military exemption from greenhouse gas emissions limits. The draft includes multilateral operations such as NATO- and U.N.-sanctioned activities, but it also includes actions related very broadly to national security, which would appear to comprehend all forms of unilateral military actions and training for such actions." Salmon also quoted Undersecretary of State Stuart Eizenstat, who headed the U.S. delegation in Kyoto. Eizenstat reported that "every requirement the Defense Department and uniformed military who were at Kyoto by my side said they wanted, they got. This is self-defense, peacekeeping, humanitarian relief." Although the U.S. had already received these assurances in the negotiations, the U.S. Congress passed an explicit provision guaranteeing U.S. military exemption. Inter Press Service reported on May 21, 1998: "U.S. law makers, in the latest blow to international efforts to halt global warming, today exempted U.S. military operations from the Kyoto agreement which lays out binding commitments to reduce 'greenhouse gas' emissions. The House of Representatives passed an amendment to next year's military authorization bill that 'prohibits the restriction of armed forces under the Kyoto Protocol.'" Today in Copenhagen the same agreements and guidelines on greenhouse gases still hold. Yet it is extremely difficult to find even a mention of this glaring omission. According to environmental journalist Johanna Peace, military activities will continue to be exempt from an executive order signed by President Barack Obama that calls for federal agencies to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by 2020. Peace states, "The military accounts for a full 80 percent of the federal government's energy demand."  ..."  Note: Even IF man-made climate change was an accurate CONCEPT (there is NO proof of significant human cause, but the climate IS changing), asking PEOPLE to restrain their activities, while letting the Military Industrial Complex and World Shipping ( only 16 transport ships produce more pollution than all the vehicles in the US) stay exempt, and instituting 'airy-fairy' CONCEPTS like 'carbon credits', geared toward the CONTROL of people and the ENRICHMENT of the few, is INSANE, and without rational foundation.  

Croat scientist warns ice age is overdue, could start in five years [02/26/10] "A leading scientist has revealed that Europe could be just five years away from the start of a new Ice Age. While climate change campaigners say global warming is the planet's biggest danger, renowned physicist Vladimir Paar says most of central Europe will soon be covered in ice. The freeze will be so complete that people will be able to walk from England to Ireland or across the North Sea from Scotland to northern Europe. Professor Paar, from Croatia's Zagreb University, has spent decades analysing previous ice ages in Europe and what caused them. "Most of Europe will be under ice, including Germany, Poland, France, Austria, Slovakia and a part of Slovenia," said the professor in an interview with the Index.hr. "Previous ice ages lasted about 70,000 years. That's a fact and the new ice age can't be avoided. "The big question is what will happen to the people of the Central European countries which will be under ice? "They might migrate to the south, or might stay, but with a huge increase in energy use," he warned. "This could happen in five, 10, 50 or 100 years, or even later. We can't predict it precisely, but it will come," he added. And the professor said that scientists think global warming is simply a natural part of the planet. "What I mean is that global warming is natural. Some 130,000 years ago the earth's temperature was the same as now, the level of CO2 was almost the same and the level of the sea was four metres higher. "They keep warning people about global warming, but half of America no longer believes it as they keep freezing," he said. And he added: "The reality is that mankind needs to start preparing for the ice age. We are at the end of the global warming period. The ice age is to follow. The global warming period should have ended a few thousands of years ago, we should have already been in the ice age. Therefore we do not know precisely when it could start - but soon." The Zagreb based scientist says it will still be possible for man to survive in the ice age, but the spending on energy will be enormous. "Food production also might be a problem. It would need to be produced in greenhouses with a lot of energy spent to heat it", commented the professor, who remains optimistic despite his predictions.  ..."  Note: "Carbon credits" do nothing except make a few people wealthy over other peoples excuses to do nothing.

Unintended Consequences: Battling ‘Climate Change’ Creates Famine   "A few weeks ago, Lord Christopher Monckton told me a distressing story about a visit to Haiti. He said that poverty in that troubled nation is so pervasive that many of its inhabitants have been reduced to eating mud pies. The term “mud pies” is not slang for a local staple made from locally-grown cereal crops. We’re talking about people reduced to eating actual dirt. The move comes as debate over climate change intensifies and concerns mount about the cost of capping greenhouse-gas emissions."  Note: Since oil is a hydrocarbon, and they're worried about carbon, they should be taxed into oblivion, forcing development of alternative energy technologies. UK Climate change department sends staff on more than 1,000 domestic flights after telling public to ' cut down on air travel'  "The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) is in charge of a multimillion advertising campaign telling the country to cut down on carbon intensive activities, such as taking domestic flights. But last year officials from DECC took just under 1,200 domestic flights, including 26 return flights to Manchester that can be reached in two-and-a-half hours by train.  ... Staff from the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), that also urges the public to fly less, took 1,938 domestic flights in 2008/09. The Government spent £35,000 on offsetting the flights, for example, by "paying for trees to be planted", and insisted "all internal flights are kept to a minimum". "  Note: Does a 'minimum' mean that they fly from A to B, and no further, each time? Doublespeak.

UN climate change panel based claims on student dissertation and magazine article  "In its most recent report, it stated that observed reductions in mountain ice in the Andes, Alps and Africa was being caused by global warming, citing two papers as the source of the information. However, it can be revealed that one of the sources quoted was a feature article published in a popular magazine for climbers which was based on anecdotal evidence from mountaineers about the changes they were witnessing on the mountainsides around them. The other was a dissertation written by a geography student, studying for the equivalent of a master's degree, at the University of Berne in Switzerland that quoted interviews with mountain guides in the Alps. ..."  

IPCC Chief Pachauri's Ties to India's Largest Energy Companies  "Whether the globe is caught in a climate crisis or not, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) very much is. Not only are the UN agency’s predictions of Himalayan glacier melt have been proved to be bogus, even the very integrity of its chief R.K. Pachauri has been challenged.  The worst part of the story is that all that is giving a lot of ammunition to global warming skeptics. If the nations were working at cross-purposes at Copenhagen, splitting hairs, oblivious of the creeping danger, the fight itself could be slackened now.  ... Many questions have been raised about the financial dealings of the man who was the toast of India, perhaps of the world, when he received the Nobel Prize for Peace back in 2007 along with former US Vice President Al Gore. Pachauri is listed as a founder and scientific advisor of GloriOil, a Houston, Texas-based oil technology company that specialises in recovering extra oil from declining oil fields. Critics say it is odd for a man committed to decarbonising energy supplies to be linked to an oil company. Closer home, he had been a member of the boards of the Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC), Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), three of India's biggest public sector energy companies, all of whom by the very nature of their business contribute heavily to greenhouse gas emissions. He lives in style in the posh Golf Links area of New Delhi. Pachauri also seems to have an awful lot of jobs, jibed Charles Clover in Sunday Times. “He already has a full-time job as director general of the Indian Energy and Resources Institute, which seems to benefit from UK government funding. He is also an adviser to Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank and the Chicago Climate Exchange — all of which stand to benefit from carbon trading. His predecessors, Bert Bolin, a Swedish scientist, and Bob Watson, now chief scientist at Defra, were part-time, but they put enormous effort into the job. How much time is Pachauri putting in? It doesn’t appear to be a lot.” Thus the reputation of the body whose pronouncements are supposed to guide policy-making across the world is in tatters, at a time when known environmental enthusiasts are in trouble themselves."   

Copenhagen accord keeps Big Carbon in business  "Copenhagen was not about global warming but money. Profiteering vs. Adaptation: In 1975, scientists predicted a coming ice age. Did they come up with a plan for society to adapt? No. If they had, would it have ever been put into action by politicians? No. There was no 'profit' in adaptation, only in control and manipulation. They wasted 30+ years and did nothing, and it is now upon us in an ever growing way. Humans can't change anything like the planetary climate. They can only adapt to changing conditions. Any other approach is delusional. 

Al Gore "rallies the troops" in Copenhagen  " .... The ultimatum to Obama was a departure for Gore who has been cautious of exerting too much pressure on the president, or causing him embarrassment. He kept up the pace by calling for the international community to sign up to a fully fledged climate change treaty by July 2010 – and then announcing that Mexico was prepared to host a deal-making summit. He scolded rich countries for demanding the developing world offer evidence of emissions cuts while at the same time trying to inflate the funds they were prepared to offer poor countries to deal with climate change. "This issue of transparency should also be applied to financial pledges of developed countries," he said. "How many times has same money been pledged two, three or even four times?" ..." 

Note:  Gore falsely believes that humans cause climate problems and that human action can 'alter' climate .... both false statements ... humans can only adapt to changing climates ... you don't see money being spent to install desalination plants on the African coast to offset drought-caused starvation by growing crops. Why? Because actually doing something to help the civilization adapt to changing climates is NOT on the table - only monetary 'indulgence' schemes which stand to make certain people rich, and not help anyone else.  Here's another example of how real issues are being ignored: A Guyanese view of Copenhagen: What of the cash promised to save our trees?  Trees absorb CO2 .. now why wouldn't they be interested? You can see the scam ... Al Gore is not who he appears to be ... clearly and transparently a spokesperson charlatan ... hard science disproves whatever he says. It's really more about world government and profiteering around the pretext of "saving the earth", when in fact it's not possible to actually do anything except adapt to changing conditions. No 'offsets' for that are even contemplated.

Fear-motivated profit is what the 'establishment' wants, even if humans could 'change the climate' ... they're more interested in less population through climate related attrition, so that resources will give them more time to rule over others - they're not interested in anything but their own interests - it doesn't include you. Her focus on the job reached almost comic levels when she famously took her wireless device into the hospital to get quotes on commodity derivatives as she was having a baby. The banks argued that by trading credit derivatives of the kind pioneered by Masters, they had spread their risk elsewhere and therefore needed lower reserves to protect against loan defaults. Regulators rolled over and the banks loaned ever more. It was a huge success and the market for credit derivatives grew rapidly. But the instruments might not have much longer. One of the fall-outs from the current crisis is the call that banks should carry their own risk."  Note 1: The story of Blythe Masters and the group at J.P. The People Paradox: Self-Esteem Striving, Immortality Ideologies, and Human Response to Climate Change   "In 1973, Ernest Becker, a cultural anthropologist cross-trained in philosophy, sociology, and psychiatry, invoked consciousness of self and the inevitability of death as the primary sources of human anxiety and repression. He proposed that the psychological basis of cooperation, competition, and emotional and mental health is a tendency to hold tightly to anxiety-buffering cultural world views or "immortality projects" that serve as the basis for self-esteem and meaning. Although he focused mainly on social and political outcomes like war, torture, and genocide, he was increasingly aware that materialism, denial of nature, and immortality-striving efforts to control, rather than sanctify, the natural world were problems whose severity was increasing. In this paper I review Becker's ideas and suggest ways in which they illuminate human response to global climate change. Because immortality projects range from belief in technology and materialism to reverence for nature or belief in a celestial god, they act both as barriers to and facilitators of sustainable practices. I propose that Becker’s cross-disciplinary "science of man," and the predictions it generates for proximate-level determinants of social behavior, add significantly to our understanding of and potential for managing the people paradox, i.e., that the very things that bring us symbolic immortality often conflict with our prospects for survival. Analysis of immortality projects as one of the proximate barriers to addressing climate change is both cautionary and hopeful, providing insights that should be included in the cross-disciplinary quest to uncover new pathways toward rational, social change.  ..."
